Studio Matrix Games has released several screenshots of Close Combat: The Bloody First pre-alpha screenshots. Thus, for the first time in a few years, we can see what the newest version of the cult series of tactical real-time strategy looks like.
Close Combat: The Bloody First is the first three-dimensional release of the classic strategy series. The creators of the Matrix Games did not spoil the news, but just last summer they announced that Benedict Wilkins’ seven-man team was still working on the game. We have now received another confirmation in the form of two screens provided by the developer. They come from the pre-alpha version running on the new engine (Archon by Slitherine, which replaced Unity), which clearly shows the unhurried pace of production. It is worth mentioning that the screenshots themselves have come to wait much longer than promised in the July announcement. There is also no information on beta testing that was scheduled to start in January. On the other side of the official forum there are some minor information. We know for example that we will be able to liquidate the crew of the vehicle unless it is protected in any way (eg jeep drivers). Mod support for mods has also been confirmed, mentioning the possibility of replacing unit icons that appear when the view is zoomed out. In addition, it was assured that Close Combat: The Bloodi First will also work on older hardware configurations.
