Dishonored 2 Continuation published in 2012. The best-selling stealth FPP, set in the universe combines elements of steampunk and aesthetics of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. The title is the result of re-cooperation of the French studio Arkane publisher – the company Bethesda. The main character of the sequel is Emily Kadwin daughter treacherously murdered empress, who, supported by Corvo Attano, his father and also the protagonist of the first game, struggling to regain the crown, and his revenge on the people who tried to kill her. Interestingly, Dishonored 2 has de facto two protagonists: in the initial stage of the game we have to make a choice, which of the characters we want to continue the game, which in connection with a slightly different abilities both affect its course. Mechanics fun has not changed significantly and continues to put emphasis on the freedom of action and the selection of one of the many methods of achieving the objective. Depending on your preferences so we can operate silently or engage in open conflict with opponents.
As mentioned, the action game is set in a dark quasi-steampunk world – in the fictional Empire Islands that climate resembles somewhat Victorian British Empire. Similar is also the level of technological development, but here it results from the use of the steam, but whale blubber (whaling backbone of the economy discussed the land). But this is not the only fantastic element in the universe, as it occurs in small amounts in it as magic, derived mainly from the mysterious creature known as Proteus (ang. The Outsider).
The story events shown in Dishonored 2 take place 15 years after the story of the “ones” – 25-year-old Emily Kaldwin, the daughter of the Empress murdered at the beginning of the first part, is trying to wisely and justly rule the islands. This state of affairs did not last long, however. As Emily watched from the perspective of the prologue we witnessed the coup by which the heroine is dethroned by Delilah Cooperspoon (important figure of the first DLC for Dishonored) and forced to flee from the capital, which is the city Dunwall. At this point, the game presents us with a choice: do we want to continue playing as was the Empress, or prefer to jump in the shoes of Corvo Attano, which is the protagonist of “ones” Regardless of the choice taken, the story goes on roughly the same way. The action moves to the long, warm south – the city Karnac, the capital of the kingdom Serkonos – where the characters take efforts to restore the rule of the Empire in the hands of the rightful ruler.
The setting Karnac shows a lot of features in common with Dunwall – new city also takes the plague and is plagued by oppressive power. In the case of the first of these factors in the role of “representative” plague of rats they have been replaced by large flies that hatch from the dead. As previously rodents, insects these in a flock is a real threat, so it is possible to eg. The tactical use of clusters of bodies to download to patrol the area humming and kąsającego painfully swarm. As for power, rule over the capital Serkonos offers Duke Luca Abele – tyrant, and at the same time ally Delilah. Besides, it is worth mentioning that the new place of action should offer a little more vivid color palette and slightly less somber mood than Dunwall.
