Friends faces in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, however, is not lacking.
The player intro is welcomed by Professor McGonnagal, who taught at the School of Magic and Wizardry in the 1980s. Even the well-known dubbing actors were hired! After a short introduction, which suggests waiting for the owl, the player can connect his account in the game with a Facebook account, enter the settings and proceed to create a new character.
As befits a game advertised as an RPG, in which the player supposedly had to go through the entire seven-year cycle of learning at Hogwarts, the first choice you need to take is to determine gender – you can become a wizard or a witch. On the next screen you choose other features of the avatar, such as the shape of the head, hairstyle, clothes (top, pants and coat) and accessories (hats, glasses).
Three-dimensional models of characters are not photorealistic, and fairy-tale characters.
Fortunately, it does not offend specifically the pixelose, although the productions from desktops and consoles have accustomed me to a much better setting in RPG games. Disappointing fans of the genre may de facto the lack of dubbing outside the intro – but it is decided to study creating AAA titles, rather than productions for smartphones, which are often played with muted sound.
The game begins with a dialogue with another student who knows a bit more about the place where we went. The first task is to get textbooks. Characters are three-dimensional, but maps – at least at the beginning – are made in the so-called 2.5 D. You can move the camera only left and right, but the scenery has depth. In the background you can see familiar buildings, such as the Gringotts Bank.
You can not move an avatar, though.
Here the first warning light came on. To “play”, simply click on the navigation icons or choose the option of fast journey in the menu. To push the story forward, you have to look at the highlighted elements of the scenery and touch them in succession, for which the game rewards the player with points. After giving the avatar a name, you finally have the chance to choose one of three answers in the dialogue.
Then the choice of the wand comes. The player immediately learns to cast spells. The creators came up with a quite interesting idea when it comes to mechanics – you have to draw elaborate shapes on the screen, others for subsequent spells. By the way, the game gives a bit of information about the player’s character history. It turns out that his brother was expelled from Hogwarts, he escaped from home and he was missing.
The reaction to the conversation on this subject determines which wand the player will receive.
Later, the game presents yet other elements of mechanics and takes the player finally to the school grounds. The ceremony assigning him to one of the houses begins. I came to Ravenclaw, as desired. After that, I could finally start traveling around Hogwarts, although the game kept me firmly by the hand all the time. I waited, however, for the tutorial to end and the proper game will start.
And then everything went to hell. Yes, completely. “Game” cheats is only about clicking on the places indicated on the screen several times. I made a few dialogues and went to the first lessons, then I came to the basement. What was my surprise when it suddenly turned out that the only (!) What I can do is to spend real money on virtual bonuses. And before I finished the good tutorial.
Micropayments were killed by Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery.
I understand that this game is free. I understand that micropayment is the monetization model of your work in the mobile world. Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, however, rejects and discourages me so that I would not spend a buck on my game. The item flew out of my phone faster than it hit him.
There are simply no games here. All interaction with the title during the “mission” consists in clicking on the next highlighted elements on the screen. One click takes one energy point, which I got about 30. And what happens when it’s finished? Well, nothing is happening.
